Some lovely fit birds that I took photos of during a visit the Falconry Centre outside of Settle one Saturday morning. I had little else to do, so off I went. And here is the result.

(Petrovka Street) from my hotel and, having passed a superb general store that was packed with meats, cheeses, cakes and pastries, each served from a counter by one or two actual people, I found an art gallery. Turns out it was the Moscow Museum of Modern Art (Petrovka Gallery). In its free-to-enter yard was this. Not just this, but a whole lot of other sculptures. A good thing for many reasons, not the least of which was that inside the museum only one floor was open. But I only discovered that later.

From the yard in front of the Moscow MOMO Petrovka gallery yard.
First batch of pix from Moscow trip in 2010 – slightly less zoomed detail. ¬†This one was taken on the first day I got to Moscow. Inside St Basil’s in Red Square. Taken without a flash on the Moscow 2010 trip. Without a flash for two good reasons: First, that I would have been kicked out as I’d not paid the extra 150 roubles to take photos. Second because the flash would certainly have totally destroyed the paint work and it would have been my fault entirely that St Basil’s (like touching Stone Henge) would have fallen down. Okay, sure, the first one takes precedence.
Anyway, this one was taken inside what is a very low-ceilinged cathedral. Frankly, the idea of walking around St Basil’s before electric light; nope, before gaslight, is incredibly evocative. Yes, the thought of it. I meant that. Anyway, St Basil’s, taken illegally. But I did pay to get in. A massive 200 roubles!
